Abstract

1306229 Shoe drum brakes GIRLING Ltd 13 May 1970 [20 May 1969] 25662/69 Heading F2E An internal shoe drum brake actuated by a cam having recesses 30 engaged by thrust members 34 which have part spherical faces engaging similar recesses in one end of each shoe 10, 12, has an abutment 18 at the other end of the shoes carrying tappets 42 the inclined faces 44 of which co-operate with a complementary surface of an abutment 46, movement of the shoes in a direction towards the actuator being prevented by a resilient link. In the embodiment shown the link comprises a tube 58 forming a telescopic link with a button 50 seated in part spherical seat 48, a spring 60 being positioned between a bracket 54 connected to the tube 58 and tappet 42 to oppose the movement. Tappets 42 may be displaceable in opposite direction to render abutment 18 adjustable. In another embodiment the resilient link has a spring loaded hinge or two armed lever.
