1305239 Button delivering apparatus CLUETT PEABODY & CO Inc 24 June 1970 [27 June 1969] 30669/70 Heading A3H A button delivering apparatus has a frame 10, a clamp 13 mounted on the frame, a button feed carriage assembly 17 mounted for reciprocation along the frame, button engaging means 18 located on said assembly, an air piston rod 27 operatively attached to said assembly for moving engaging means 18 towards clamp 13, and means adapted to deliver buttons one at a time to said button engaging means. The apparatus may be used in combination with a sewing machine and is controlled automatically by means of a control circuit of micro-switches, relays and time delay capacitors (Fig. 4 not shown). Buttons are fed one at a time from a vibratory hopper 12 down supply chute 11 wherefrom button feed carriage assembly 17, driven by air cylinder 26, 27 transports one button to clamp 13 located below the sewing head (not shown). The holes in the button are properly oriented by the carriage by means of pinion 21 carrying pins 20. Fig. 3 before delivery to clamp 13. A second air cylinder 34 disengages assembly 17 from the button by tilting the assembly and the assembly returns to a neutral position at the bottom of chute 11 by means of springs. It can then pick up another button to begin the cycle again. Removal of the sewn button from the clamp reenergizes the control circuit and the cycle begins.
