Abstract

1304214 Spring upholstery LEAR SIEGLER Inc 21 April 1970 [30 June 1969] Heading A4M [Also in Division F2] A box spring assembly comprises a rectangular frame 12 with sides 14 and ends 16 and a plurality of springs 22 each formed from an integral wire to define a straight, body portion 24 and fishmouth ends 26, the springs 22 being arranged in pairs spaced longitudinally of the frame 12 and secured by clips 57 to longitudinal wires 54 woven through the straight portions 24 of the springs 22 and clipped at their ends 56 to a border wire 50, the springs 22 of each pair being staggered transversely of the frame 12 and having their overlapping straight portions clipped together, as at 29, the inner ends of each spring of the pair being secured to a transverse frame member 18 and the outer end being secured, at 46, to a corresponding side 14. Further springs 52 each with a straight section and fishmouth ends are secured to and between the border wire 50 and the frame ends 16. The assembly includes corner springs 60 which are arcuate in plan view of the assembly and sinuous in elevation.
