Abstract

1,086,032. Spring upholsteray. HOOVER BALL & BEARING CO. May 16, 1966, No. 21688/66. Heading A4M. A box spring assembly comprises a plurality straight wire springs 14, 16 extending longitudinally and transversely of a sub-jacent rectangular frame 12, each spring 14, 16 having fishmouth ends 36 secured to the frame 12, a rectangular border wire 18, 20 to which the upper parts of the spring ends are secured by clips 76, 22, and auxiliary wire springs 26 secured on cross members 52 of the frame 12 and providing a resilient support for the intermediate, body portions of the main springs 14, 16 to which they are secured by clips 28, 30. Each auxiliary spring 26 comprises a diagonally extending, straight, upper portion 84 which interconnects bent ends 80, 82 having torsion bar portions disposed at right angles to each other. The spring ends 34, 80, 82 have depending prongs (50, 102) which engage openings (38, 104) in the frame 12.
