Abstract
1301230 Torque wrench SNAP-ON TOOLS CORP 31 March 1971 8757/71 Heading B3N A preset torque wrench comprises a handle member 10, a pair of superposed flex beams 20, 21 connected to a work engaging head member 12 and a trigger connect and release mechanism 23. In operating anticlockwise movement as viewed in Fig. 2, the initial load is taken by beam 20 and causes displacement of the trigger mechanism 23 which detachably connects the two beams together which then share the torque load until the preset torque value is reached. The torque can be set by adjustment of wedge 30. Nib 28 abuts the wedge and rotates the trigger mechanism anticlockwise to release beam 21 which strikes against the side of the handle member with an audible click. Screw 45 provides for a zero adjustment setting. In a modification the free end of beam 21 is curved and engages a roller which forms part of the trigger mechanism.
