Abstract

1300865 Electro-photographic apparatus RICOH K K 10 March 1970 [15 March 1969] 11308/70 Heading G2H A non-magnetic belt 46 passes adjacent a magnetized belt 43, so as to pick up toner from a reservoir 39 and then moves away from the belt 43 to allow the toner to deposit on an electrostatic latent image formed on a drum 31. Preferably, belt 46 is vibrated by an oscillating guide roller 44. Belt 46 may comprise fabric, rubber or resin optionally with an aluminium or stainless steel layer or may comprise a non-magnetic metal sheet. Belt 46 may run parallel to the drum for a distance to act as a development electrode being spaced from the drum by a plate (147) Fig. 4 (not shown). Belt 43 may comprise fabric or rubber with magnetic insets (21b) Figs.2A, 2B (not shown). Excess toner is cleared from drum 31 by a brush 49 of cotton, feathers, paper or silk; the deveoped image is transferred, and drum 31 is cleared by a brush 55 of similar materials to those of brush 49.
