Abstract

1300827 Haematology standard BAXTER LABORATORIES Inc 23 Feb 1970 [5 March 1969] 8605/70 Heading B1X A haematology standard comprise an aqueous solution of a known amount of serum albumin containing in suspension predetermined amounts of washed red blood cells and synthetic latex particles, particle size 5 to 15 microns. Preferred proportions provide in the standard RBC 3 to 5 x 10<SP>6</SP> per cu. mm., latex particle count 5 to 10 x 10<SP>3</SP> per cu. mm., concentration of serum albumin 2 to 5 wt. %. The red blood cells are preferably from 1 to 24 day old human blood. The latex particles may be of polystyrene, polyvinyl toluene and/or styrene-divinyl 'benzene copolymer (exemplified). The serum albumin may be obtained from whole human plasma by conventional methods, and is made up for use in a solution comprising dextrose, sodium citrate, sodium chloride and citric acid.
