Abstract

1300699 Printing machines BANQUE DE FRANCE 19 April 1971 [19 May 1970] 24844/71 Heading B6C A wiping device for copper-plate printing machines comprises a wiper cylinder 2 engaging the plate cylinder 1, at least one rotatable brush 3, 4 for cleaning the wiping cylinder and immersed in a bath 6 of cleaning liquid, a roller 7 in contact with and having the same direction of rotation as the wiper cylinder 2 and a metal scraper knife 8 in contact with the roller 7. As shown, the roller 7 is contacted by the cleaning brush 4 but a separate brush may be provided. The roller 7 has a rubber covering and wipes and dries the part of the cylinder 2 which is moving into contact with the cylinder 1. The knife 8, roller 7 and cylinder 2 have axial reciprocating movements. The surface speed of the roller 7 is generally lower than that of the cylinder 2.
