Abstract

1299665 Labelling machines MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 9 March 1970 [10 March 1969] 11234/70 Heading B8F The position of labels 7, prior to being stripped from a carrier tape 6 at an edge 11, is sensed by a star wheel 22 which is fast with a cam 28. A leaf spring 30 bears against the cam to bias the star wheel to positions in which its teeth 23 engage the leading edges of the labels. Rotation of the wheel by a label causes the cam 28 to actuate a lever 33 controlling a switch 34 which controls the feed of the tape. The tape may be fed over a bridge 18 to raise it above a guide plate 10 to allow the tape to flex and the star wheel to rotate, alternatively the plate 10 may be formed with a recess to allow for depression of the tape.
