Abstract

1299031 Measuring gyro speed electrically BODENSEEWERK GERATETECHNIK GmbH 14 May 1971 [20 June 1970] 14968/71 Heading G1N [Also in Division H3] A device for measuring the speed of a gyro driven by an electric motor comprises a transformer 10 the primary winding 18 of which is coupled in the motor current supply circuit and the secondary winding 20 of which is coupled to an oscillatory circuit tuned to a predetermined frequency fo = <SP>#N2À</SP> 60 <SP>no</SP> sec.<SP>-1</SP>, where N 2 is the number of rotor slots on the motor and no is the rated speed of the gyro in r.p.m., which circuit therefore responds to speed-dependent rotor current harmonics induced in the motor supply current and in which circuit a switching device for generating a gyro monitoring signal is arranged to respond to the signal amplitude in the oscillatory circuit. The preferred oscillatory circuit includes a Q-multiplier (see Division H3).
