[Also in Group XXXVI] The speed of rotation of a shaft is determined by attaching a U-shaped permanent magnet to the shaft, and locating a Hall plate between the poles of the magnet, whereby each revolution of the shaft produces a pulse from the output terminals of the Hall plate, whose amplitude is constant and whose frequency indicates the speed of rotation of the shaft. Specification 699,746 is referred to.
