Abstract

1298546 Electric switches NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO 20 July 1971 [7 Aug 1970] 33998/71 Heading H1N [Also in Division B6] A keyboard includes at least one key 22, 24 supported on two keystems 16 slidable in parallel support plates 10, 12, each keystem 16 engaging a respective cam as at 114, 115 for key 24, the cams being coupled together by shaft 110 to ensure that the keys 22, 24 remain parallel to plate 10 while being depressed. Key 22 is supported on three keystems 16a, 16c, (16b, Fig. 3, not shown) engaging respective cams 96, 98, (97) coupled together in pairs by shaft 88 and a link (100, Fig. 3). Depression of a key results in the operation of a reed contact unit 82 by a magnet 85 by removal of a shield or shunt 60 from between the contact unit and the magnet.
