Abstract

1298108 Mould closing devices WERNER & PFLEIDERER 17 April 1970 [28 July 1969] 18485/70 Heading B5A Apparatus for moulding expandable synthetic plastics comprises mould parts 5, 6 mounted on fixed and movable platens 2, 3 respectively, the movable platen 3 being slidable on guides 10 and pivotable from a vertical to a horizontal position about a hinge 9. The pivoting movement is effected by an hydraulic actuator 19. The movable platen 3 can be locked in position by means of pivoted levers 14 operated by an hydraulic actuator 15 and carrying rollers 16 engaging in recesses 17 in the sides of the platen 3. Movement of the levers 14 in the arrowed directions causes initial opening of the mould, complete opening being effected by hydraulic rams 18. The fixed platen 2 is secured by nuts 7 to horizontal rods 4. Numerals 20, 21 show alternative positions for an injection nozzle. The moulded articles may be dropped down an apron 24 on to a conveyer (not shown). In Fig. 3 (not shown) eight such units are supplied from a single metering device (22).
