Abstract
1297904 Charging reheating furnaces HOESCH AG 13 Jan 1970 [15 Jan 1969] 1615/70 Heading F4B Apparatus for charging reheating furnaces 1 in a rolling mill comprises a rollerway conveyer 2 in front of the furnaces from which ingots are pushed therein by rams 3, a chain conveyer 4 running below and at right angles to said conveyer 2, a rollerway conveyer 9 feeding stacks 16 of ingots from said chain conveyer 4 on to unstacking tables 11, and rams 12 delivering one ingot at a time to said rollerway conveyer 2. A delivery trolley 6 carrying a spacing gauge 8 runs on rails (5, Fig. 2) below the chain conveyer 4. The rollerway conveyer 9, which may be raised or lowered runs on the same rails. In a modification (Figs. 3 and 4) the rollerway conveyer 2 is replaced by a walking beam conveyer. Operation.-A pile 15 of, e.g. four ingots is formed on trolley 6 by picking up ingots by a crane from locations 14 said pile being delivered at a spacing determined by gauge 8 behind the last pile 16 of ingots stacked on conveyer 4. The latter stops when the leading edge of the first stack of ingots strikes a limit switch (10, Fig. 2) behind conveyer 9, which then delivers the stack on to the appropriate table 11. A thrust block 13 is held against the remainder of the stack while the topmost ingot is pushed on to conveyer 2 by a ram 12.
