Abstract

1297461 Detergent enzyme granules KALICHEMIE AG 20 May 1971 [20 June 1970] 16153/71 Heading C5D [Also in Division C3] An abrasion-resistant granular enzyme product of low bulk density, suitable for inclusion in detergent formulations, consists of a porous water-soluble substrate, a mixture of protease, amylase and calcium sulphate worked into the pores of the substrate, a coating of a watersoluble polyalkylene glycol or a derivative thereof and an enveloping coating of a finely pulverulent dusting powder that adheres to the surface. According to the examples, the enzyme product was comprised of (1) bacterial protease, bacterial amylase, calcium sulphate dihydrate, porous sodium tripolyphosphate (substrate), polyethylene glycol (M.W. 4000) and finely powdered calcium carbonate, (2) polypropylene glycol (M.W. 11,000) replaced the polyethylene glycol, (3) as (1) except that the particles were coated with titanium dioxide and not calcium carbonate, and (4) bacterial protease, bacterial amylase, calcium sulphate dihydrate, widepored anhydrous sodium sulphate (substrate), polyethylene glycol (M.W. 4000) and calcium carbonate. The dusting powder is preferably heated before use and may contain a dye. The substrates mentioned are alkali phosphates, polyphosphates, borates, carbonates and bicarbonates, alkali salts of hydrohalic acids and sulphuric acid, and such organic compounds as the sodium salts of nitrilotriacetic acid, ethylene-diamine tetra-acetic acid, gluconic acid and sugar. Calcium sulphate, sodium phosphate and sodium silicate are also mentioned as dusting powders.
