Abstract

1297075 Ceramic containing sintered carbide material DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A G 31 March 1970 [20 May 1969] 15194/70 Heading C7A A sintered alloy, suitable for armour plating, making safes or document cabinets because of its high hardness, toughness and wear resistance and low workability, comprises:- 10-50% by wt. of a ceramic material and 50-90% of a mixture comprising 10-70% TiC, up to 50% of which may be replaced by or more carbides of Cr, Hf, Mo, Nb, Ta, V and W and 30-90% of an alloy steel, the ceramic not being soluble in the rest of the composition. The ceramic material may be one or more oxides of Al, Be, Mg and Zr or may be a carbide of B or Si coated with a ceramic material.
