1296275 Attaching labels BATTISTA LOZIO & FIGLI SAS 5 May 1970 [4 Feb 1970] 21475/70 Heading B4C [Also in Division F2] A device for fixing labels 24, e.g. to a fabric 26, Fig. 17, by means of connecting elements each having an anchoring portion 11 and a head member 13 spaced by a filament 15, Fig. 3, comprises a hollow slotted needle 20, a stem 56, Fig. 5, for thrusting the portion 11 along the needle slot 115, means 60, Fig. 13, for successively feeding connecting elements to the needle 20 as an integral series, and means 102, Fig. 11 for cutting a respective element from the series on actuating the stem 56, the feeding means 60 being self-contained within a detachable unit. On pivoting a hand lever 45 about a connection 44 to a casing 41, the stem 56 is advanced by a linkage 51-55 to project an element portion 11 along the slot 115 to enter the fabric 26, Fig. 17, the cutting blade 102 shearing the element from an integral supporting rod 35. Simultaneous outward movement of a block 111 supported by the lever 45 allows a member 75 pivotably bearing a lever 66 to be urged downwardly by a spring 77, drawing the lever 66 past a ratchet wheel 62 rigid with an element feed wheel 61. On release of the lever 45, a spring 46 returns it to its initial position, the block urging the member 75 upwardly so that the wheel 62 is actuated to supply a further element. A knob 114 attached to the block 111 enables the block to be retracted against a spring 113, Fig. 5, and Fig. 16 (not shown), allowing the member 75 to be urged downwardly with the handle 45 in inoperative position, while a pierced plate 107 fixed to the block 111 may actuate a lever 105, in order to disengage the lever 66, Fig. 13, and a locking tooth 81 from the wheel 62, thus freeing the feeding means 60, e.g. for removal or in the case of jamming.
