Abstract

1294913 Treating fibrous materials UNI-SEARCH Ltd 9 June 1970 [23 June 1969 (2)] 27850/70 Heading D1L Apparatus, as shown, comprises two porous conveyor belts 10 and 11 holding between them a layer of wool 12, which pass through a treatment tank 13 where nipping devices are arranged within, the tank to force treating liquor through the wool. The liquor is delivered from reservoir tank 14 to the processing tank 13 by pump 15. The liquor percolates through the layer of wool which is 2-3 mm. thick and moving at about 150 ft. per minute. The nipping devices 17 are wedge shaped and designed to produce a undirectional flow of liquor through the wool. After passing through the wool the liquor maintains a level on the moving wool layer before the wool enters the processing tank 13 and passes back into tank 14. After leaving the processing tank, excess liquor is removed from the wool by squeeze rollers or is partially displaced by liquor pumped from the next processing stage by the employment of wedge nips 23.
