Abstract

1294568 Reel mounting WALMOR ENG CO Ltd 20 July 1971 [1 Aug 1970] 37278/70 Heading F2U [Also in Divisions D1-D2] A bobbin supporting barrel A has a plurality of axially extending splines a disposed around its periphery, the splines a being housed in radial slots a1 and being biassed radially outwards by springs b1 in blind radial bores a5, the barrel A being supported on bearings rotatable on a stationary shaft which extends through the barrel, axial displacement of the barrel being prevented by a flanged hub b secured by a nut c on the shaft. End discs a4 engage lips a2 on the splines a to limit the maximum radial setting of the splines. When a bobbin or reel B is pushed on to the barrel A the splines a engage the bore of the bobbin or reel B to hold it. Brake.-A sleeve d is screwed on to the shaft C. A nose d1 is spring mounted on the sleeve d by a spring d2 and slides therealong on two pins d3 engaging slots in the sleeve. The nose d1 carries a friction brake engaging a disc d4 on the barrel A. A locking nut d5 is provided.
