1294231 Storage devices PLASTIC MFG CORP Ltd 19 April 1971 [23 Feb 1970] 8491/70 Heading A4T [Also in Division A6] A car park for toy cars or a storage device for other toys, cigarettes, confectionery or cosmetics comprises a rotatable drum 1, storage compartments 2 rotatable with respect to the drum, a non-rotatable sun wheel A, and planet wheels B meshing with wheels C of the compartments 2, so that the orientation of the compartments remains constant as the drum rotates. The car park shown includes a lift 16, which can be raised and tilted to deliver a car to a compartment 2. The lift is operated by buttons 14, 15, 17 acting through mechanical linkages (not shown). An electric motor, Fig. 5 (not shown), drives through reduction gearing a rubber sleeve, which is resiliently urged into contact with a serrated annular region of the drum to rotate the latter. Switches 57, 58, 59 control the electric motor. When a compartment 2 reaches a discharge position, at the end of a ramp 50 at the back of the drum, Fig.2 (not shown), a corresponding pin (not shown) carried by the drum trips a lever, Fig. 6 (not shown) to bring a translucent screen of a particular colour behind an illuminated window 15. This signifies that a lever (38), Figs. 7 and 8, (not shown) can now be manually operated to tilt the pivotable floor of the compartment to eject the car stored to ramp 50. Wheels B could also be used as storage compartments but these compartments would rotate when the rotor revolved.
