Abstract

1293867 Resilient seat mountings A HURWITZ 26 June 1970 [4 July 1969] 31148/70 Heading A4U [Also in Division F2] A seat 2 is mounted on a vehicle by an adjustable linkage 8-12, dashpot 16 and resilient support 14. This support comprises an airfilled chamber formed by a rigid lower member 22 and a flexible upper member 26, and a plunger 44 connected to the flexible member and to the seat. A spring 28 urges the flexible member to a rest position in which the air within the chamber is at atmospheric pressure, against the action of any load on the seat which tends to deflect the flexible member towards the rigid member. The chamber has a valve 34-42 which is open when the flexible member is in its rest position, thus ensuring that air within the chamber is at atmospheric pressure, and which closes when the flexible member is deflected under load.
