1293235 Knitting-machines V J LOMBARDI 24 Aug 1970 40656/70 Addition to 1207683 Heading D1C In one arrangement, the sinkers or other knitting elements are mounted on horizontal surfaces made up of a removable bearing member 46, mounted so that horizontal passageways are formed in the cylinder assembly, and the sinker dial 32, further passageways 36, 56 being provided extending from the upper surface of the bearing member towards the surface of the sinker dial. The needles 28 slide in tricks formed in the cylinder 20 or by inserts 30 welded or soldered to the cylinder. The sinker dial 32 is secured by set screws to cylinder 20 with its slots aligned with those formed on a ring 22 at the top of cylinder 20. The heat hardened metal member 46 is secured by set screws 52, correct positioning being ensured by U-shaped spacers 55. Thus member 46 may be replaced, removed and ground flat or just drifted slightly to move worn parts. The arrangement of Fig. 6 (not shown) is similar but grooves 73 are deeper and further grooves (75) are provided inside the cylinder.
