The recesses may be in the form of elongated hexagons, rhombuses or ellipses about 10 m.m. long and 5-6 m.m. wide. The surface material may be applied to a base of concrete, bitumen or plastics and hardened and recessed by means of a warm roller having projections on its surface or may be pre-moulded and glued to a suitable sub-surface.
