Abstract
1292337 System monitoring J T SCOTNEY Ltd 26 June 1970 [28 June 1969] 32780/69 Heading G1A [Also in Division H2] A fault detecting arrangement comprises an insulating chamber 10 containing a radiation sensitive detector, e.g. a photo-cell or thermocouple and one or more radiation generating devices, e.g. lamps 14 or heaters, the or each device being connected across a normally conductive element, e.g. a fuse or switch contacts, for response to the voltage across the element when an open circuit fault occurs. The output from the detector may effect the operation of a visual and/or audible alarm and may halt a protected apparatus. As shown, neon lamps 14 and ballast resistors 16 are encapsulated in the wall of a cylindrical housing 10 with the exception of an inwardly facing portion of the envelope of each lamp. A photo-cell (not shown) is placed in the housing and end plates close the housing. Connecting pins 26 for the lamps and resistors may be plugged into a wafer socket member or into sockets in a cylindrical housing having indicating lamps respectively connected in parallel with the neon lamps.
