Abstract

1291978 Rotary positive-displacement pumps CHANDLER EVANS Inc 26 Jan 1970 [4 Feb 1969] 3725/70 Heading F1F In a variable sliding-vane-type pump blocks 14, 16 with cam surfaces 42, 44 for the vanes 36 of the rotor 32 are supported by casing surfaces 20, 22 so as to be movable by mechanism (not shown) diametrically relative to each other and the rotor, movement being limited by projections 62. Tongues 66 bridge the gaps between the blocks. Pairs of inlet and discharge passages 46, 48 and 50, 52 are formed in fixed end plates 72, 74, which provide bearings 76 for the rotor shaft 30. A greater proportion of the working fluid is displaced between the passages 46, 48 than between the passages 50, 52. The vanes are stepped and loaded by pressure transmitted to pockets 38, 40 from said passages by way of passages 78.
