129,077. Kitchen, J. G. A., Fraser, G. H., and O'Hanlon, J. R. June 26, 1918. Rudders.-In a steering and reversing gear, as described in Specification 3249/14, in which a pair of flat rudders is adapted to form a pocket behind the propeller when it is desired to reverse the boat without reversing the propeller, horizontal plates are provided adjacent to the rudders at top and bottom to prevent escape of water from the pocket. The rudders a, bare carried by the spindle c and sleeve d respectively, and flat plates e, f are provided adjacent to their upper and lower edges. In an alternative form, the rudders may be carried by independent spindles, and, in another modification, the upper plate e may be replaced by the underside of the stern of the boat.
