Abstract

1290527 Open-end spinning machines TMM (RESEARCH) Ltd 6 July 1970 [8 July 1969] 34328/69 Heading D1D In an open-end spinning machine a spinning rotor 11 collects on its inner surface 19 fibres supplied by a feed roller 25 and an opening roller 27. which are disposed out of line with the rotor 11 so that a cover plate 15 may be removed without obstruction by or displacement of the feeding means. Fibres enter via ducts 29 and 14 aided by suction applied to a duct 23 and a yarn 20 is drawn off through a delivery duct 18 by rollers 21 and 22. The cover plate 15 is retained by a catch (32), see Fig. 4 (not shown) and a spring clip (31), the catch (32) also engaging a shaft 49 having a cam 36 which operates spring loaded arms 37 and 38 of a brake device which stops the rotor 11 when the cover 15 is removed. A cover 41 for access to the opening roller 27 is pivoted by a shaft 51 carrying a cam 43 which operates a braking device similar to that already mentioned but which stops the roller 27. The spining rotor 11 is driven by an electric motor 13 and the opening roller 27 by an electric motor (40), Fig. 2 (not shown).
