Abstract

1290340 Sealing strips for doors BERNARD DIXON & PARTNERS Ltd 15 June 1970 [24 June 1969] 31877/69 Heading E1J A vertical edge seal for a door or window which has a weatherboarded seal along its lower horizontal edge, comprises a rigid metal or plastics strip 6 whose lower end is inclined at an angle corresponding to the outward downward slope of the weatherboard surface and whose upper end accommodates a dowel plug for butt-joining with a further vertical extension strip of the same cross-section, a continuous elastomeric sealing strip 7 being retained in a channel 8 which extends the full length of the assembled vertical strip. Preferably the dowel plug is fitted into an open end of a second channel 9 extending throughout the length of the rigid strip 6. The vertical seal is attached by screws 10 extending across the channel 9 to the jamb 2A of the frame 2, as shown, or to the door 1. The lower horizontal seal comprises an elastomeric strip retained in a channel in the underside of a rigid strip whose sloping upper surface constitutes a weatherboard and which is attached to the door, (Fig. 2, not shown).
