1289806 Protective caps I J MARKOWITZ 9 July 1971 [10 July 1970] 32446/71 Heading B8T In a protective cap 10 for an aerosol can 25 or a bottle (Fig. 4, not shown), comprising a skirt depending from a top portion 13 to engage a bead 32 of the can or the wall of the bottle, two or more arcuate lugs 18 project upwardly from the top portion 13 and are aligned with similarly shaped lugs 15 projecting inwardly and carrying lips 17 forming jaws which grip the enlarged collar 29 of the can or bottle but can be released by squeezing the lugs 18 together causing lugs 15 to move apart due to the smaller thickness and hence greater flexibility of top portion 13 relative to lugs-15 and 18.
