Abstract
1289698 Selective printing MEAD CORP 9 Dec 1969 [9 Dec 1968 24 Nov 1969] 60124/69 Headings B6F and B6P In a drop printer, a shield 25 is provided between the electrostatic charging electrodes 14, 18 and the deflecting electrodes 20, in order to isolate the drop stream from the deflection field. The shield may comprise an apertured insulated strip 51 having interconnected metallic rings around the apertures or a metal apertured plate. As shown in Fig. 3 an.array comprising many ink jets is provided for each character. The array may be duplicated a number of times across the web, each array being also spaced along the web.
