Abstract

1287806 Lift truck mast assembly DSO BALKANCAR 6 Feb 1970 [9 Feb 1969] 5937/70 Heading B8H A lift truck mast assembly which allows a considerable free lift of the fork prior to raising of the movable mast section, consists of a cylinder 1 in which pistons 2, 20 are located, the piston 2 carrying a yoke 3 on which sprockets 4 are rotatably mounted. A chain consisting of bi-lateral bending portions 7 and unilateral bending block chains 5, 6 which is anchored to the cylinder 1 passes over the sprockets 4 then under and over sprockets 8, 10 rotatably mounted on the movable mast section 9 in planes at right-angles to the sprockets 4 and is anchored to a carriage 17 to which the forks are attached. When the carriage 17 is lowered to the ground, the movable mast section 9 is locked to the fixed mast section 16 by locking devices (11), Fig. 3 (not shown). In operation, oil is delivered to the cylinder 1, the pistons 2, 20 start to raise the yoke 3 thus moving the carriage 17 upwards by means of the chain to a predetermined distance (the free lift height) at which stage strikers (19), Fig. 3 (not shown), attached to the carriage 17 unlock the locking devices (11) and the movable mast section 19 begins to rise simultaneously with the carriage 17 under the action of piston 2 until the maximum lifting height is reached. Instead of chains and sprockets, flexible cables and pulleys may be used.
