Abstract

1287706 Gas scrubber CHEMICAL CONSTRUCTION CORP 19 April 1971 [18 March 1970] 24261/71 Heading B1R In a gas scrubber, gas to be scrubbed enters at 5 and pases downwardly through a throat 23 at the bottom of a downwardly converging section 22 irrigated with liquid from a pipe 21, and passes upwardly through an annular bed of packing material 24 to a gas outlet 25, the free upto and cross-sectional area of the passage for the flow of gas through the throat 23 being varied by vertical movement of a baffle member 15. The baffle member 15 is carried by a shaft 14 extending through a liquid supply tank 8 which supplies liquid to the upper portion of the baffle member 15. Movement of the baffle may be controlled automatically in response to changes in the pressure drop between the gas inlet and outlet.
