1286898 Variable speed gears FICHTEL & SACHS AG 14 Dec 1970 [15 Dec 1969] 59314/70 Heading F2D A gear hub (e.g. for a cycle) having n ratios (n being at least three) comprises a hub shell 11, a driven member 7 (e.g. a chain sprocket), (n - 1) centrifugal shift devices 16, 17, at least n clutch devices (e.g. ratchet clutches 10, 12, 14) connected to (n - 1) epicyclic gear trains having between them a common carrier 6 for planet pinions 3, 22, 24, at least one sun gear 2, 23, 25 and (n - 1) annuli 8, 9 of different diameters. The centrifugal shift devices may comprise flyweights 16, 17 each with a tang 18 to disengage pawls of the clutches 12, 14 from ratchet teeth 13, 15, 19, 21.
