Abstract

1286471 Book holders E E THEOBALD and L T CORKE 21 Oct 1969 [19 Sept 1968] 44672/68 Heading A4U A book holder comprises an end wall 6, of wood or plastics material, and a stainless steel strip 1 formed into a coil spring at 2 and uncoilable to receive and grip, when released, books inserted between it and the wall, the strip being adhered or riveted to a metallic stiffening plate 3 and the ends of the strip and plate being received on a rebate 7, and upturned and secured by adhesive or by jamming or wedging in a groove 8 in the wall. A covering of felt may be adhered to the flush bottom surfaces of the wall and plate and may extend over the adjacent part of the strip. In modifications, the ends of the strip and plate are not upturned only the end of the strip is upturned, a coil is provided at each side of the wall, two stiffening plates being provided the upturned ends of which are secured in the groove, or a single stiffening plate has a central part upturned, after setting, for reception in the groove.
