Abstract

1285696 Photographic photo-developable silver halide processing method KODAK Ltd 19 Sept 1969 [19 Sept 1968] 44633/68 Heading G2C An image formed by photo-developing an imagewise exposed sensitive layer of a photo-developable silver halide recording material is stabilized by applying to the layer an aqueous stabilizing solution containing only a thiocyanate and a reducing agent which is 1-ascorbic acid, sodium dithionite, glycin, hydroquinone, hydroxylamine sulphate or thiourea dioxide. The thiocyanate may be ammonium or an alkali metal thiocyanate, and the solution may contain 2À5 to 5À0 moles of the thiocyanate per litre. The stabilizing solution cannot function as a photographic developer since there is no alkaline development activator present.
