Abstract

1284702 Spray printing J MESSNER 26 April 1971 [27 April 1970] 11309/71 Heading B6C A web 8 is printed whilst passing beneath an array of nozzles 9 to 12 and 9a to 12a the actuation of which derives from a control unit 20 which uses pre-recorded programme tapes 22, 24 in conjunction with the linear speed of the web. The ink used is yellow, red, green and violet and containers, pumps, taps and control valves are provided to ensure that any particular ink or inks as determined by the machine reading of the tapes 22 and 24 is sprayed at the correct moment on to the moving web. Each row of nozzles may be axially reciprocated and/or pivotally swung about the longitudinal axis.
