Abstract

1283830 Electric couplings AMP Inc 9 Oct 1970 [13 Oct 1969] 48114/70 Heading H2E A tap connector comprises a channel shaped base-portion 2 having a base 9 and side walls 8, 14, a curved top-portion 10, a block 4 disposed in the base portion for movement towards and away from the top-portion and a screw 6 threadably engaged in a hole 5 in the block and passing through a clearance hole 7 in the base 9. The connector which may be of aluminium has a pair of slots 20, 22 in which the conductor TCC of the tap-wire is held by engagement with the block which travels downwards as the screw is 6 is turned to engage the line cable CA retained in the curved top-portion 10. A rib 18 and end 16 of the wall 14 limit upward movement of the block. The screw may have a pointed end (Fig. 3) for engaging the cable CA conductor or have a pusher 126 rotatably mounted thereon to push the line cable CA against a projection 128 on the top-portion (Fig. 6). In cross-section the connector has the form of a "C" or the numeral "2".
