Abstract

1282654 Electromagnetic relays MTE COMPONENTS Ltd 19 April 1971 [2 April 1970] 15694/70 Heading H1N An electromagnetic relay has its armature 31 arranged to move an insulating member or members 28 which control a respective contact set 13, 14 and are manually adjustable relative to the associated pair of contacts from a position in which the contacts are controlled to form a break combination to a second position in which the contacts are controlled to form a make combination. A hook 38 on the armature 31 engages a spindle 39 which passes through holes in stirrups such as 34 and pivoted arms such as 41. The stirrups are biased upward by springs 43 (44) and have open-ended slots 33 in which circumferential grooves of a plurality of insulating rods are fitted. When the armature 34 is attracted downward by the electromagnet 11, the rods 18 move downward so that a projection 25 of the movable contact spring 24 is moved out of a depression 29 in the rod 28 to open the contacts 13, 14. The rod 28 passes through a collar 15 on which the fixed contact 13 and its projecting end 45 is slotted so that it may be turned through 180 degrees to a position in which the projection 25 engages its outer cylindrical surface and the movable contact spring 24 is in the open position. When the armature is attracted to the electromagnet the projection can move into a depression 30 to close the contacts.
