Abstract
1282231 Gas-fired furnaces KOPPERSWISTRA OFENBAU GmbH 30 Oct 1970 [3 March 1970] 51741/70 Heading F4B A furnace is heated by burners 6, 7 in the walls arranged in groups, the burners 6 of one group being arranged to form an eddy of hot gas filling the furnace chamber and whirling in one direction, while the burners 7 of another group produce an eddy whirling in the opposite direction, and the burner groups are operated in turn so as to repeatedly change the direction of flow of the gases in the furnace. The heating effect of the burners is controlled by switching burners on and off, and the group of burners are controlled by a time switch, so that the unidirectional eddy effect and the change of eddy direction is preserved when burners are switched on or off by the heat control. All the burners may be operated together if required.
