Abstract
1279847 Masted lift trucks DSO BALKANCAR 26 June 1969 [26 June 1968] 32457/69 Heading B8H The mast assembly of a lift truck is provided with a control system whereby the maximum height to which a load may be lifted is limited automatically in accordance with the weight of the load. As shown, the hydraulic pump motor circuit includes normally-closed switches 9-12 in parallel with normally-closed switches 5-8. The switches 9-12 are opened sequentially by cams as the lifting carriage rises, and the switches 5-8 are opened by pressure relays 1-4 which are connected to the hydraulic lift circuit and which are adjusted such that as the pressure in the circuit increases the switches 8-5 are opened in turn. Thus, when a load is lifted and if that load requires a pressure that will actuate relays 3, 4 and thereby open switches 7, 8, the load will rise to a height at which switch 11 is opened, at which point the electric circuit of the pump motor is opened, thereby halting the lifting carriage. In a modification, the lift ram is a multi-stage ram and the hydraulic relays are adjusted to correspond with the pressures at which the various ram stages operate, Fig. 1 (not shown). Circuits are also described for application to I.C. engined lift trucks, Figs. 2, 5 (not shown).
