Abstract
1278996 Bimorph benders MOTOROLA Inc 20 Oct 1969 [6 Nov 1968] 51373/69 Heading H1E In a bender bimorph, the pair of piezoelectric elements 34, 35 having electrodes 37, 46, 36, 47 coated thereon are secured together, and the electrodes 46 and 36 are conductively connected, by a central conductive member 40 of corrugated form, the apices of the corrugations being secured to the electrodes 46 and 36 by a cementive bonding material 52; the arrangement permits the use of a non-conductive epoxy bonding material, and allows expansion and contraction of the elements without undue stress therein. As shown, ceramic elements 34, 35 may be circular, member 40 having circular or spiral corrugations over its central region and radial corrugations around its edge, to permit relative lateral movement of the two elements over their central regions only. A rectangular bimorph arrangement is also disclosed (Fig. 5, not shown).
