Abstract
1277446 Measuring disc shaped rotors BENDIX CORP 15 July 1969 [18 July 1968] 35589/69 Heading G1M A gauge for measuring the thickness and the deformation of a disc such as a vehicle brake rotor 34 Fig. 1, comprises a support 46 which may be moved axially parallel to the rotor machining shaft 44 by a hand wheel 49, a yoke 60 slidable on rods 62 and pressed by a spring 65, Fig. 3 against the shaft 110 of a dial gauge 100, and a dial gauge 84 engaging one side of the rotor. In use the rotor is slowly rotated and its thickness variation noted on the gauge 84. At any given position the rotor may be stopped and the gauge moved radially inwards of the rotor towards the shaft 44 by a hand wheel 48 so that the run out or radial deformity of the rotor may be measured by movement of the yoke 60 relative to the gauge 100. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the gauge is mounted on a vehicle to measure the existing disc brake rotor and is operated by racks and pinions.
