Abstract

1277418 Bowden mechanisms BOWDEN CONTROLS Ltd 30 July 1969 [30 July 1968] 36281/68 Heading F2K A fitting 3 for the conduit C of a Bowden cable comprises a tubular section having a medial flange 4 on one side of which the tubular section is securable to the conduit and on the other side of the flange the tubular section comprises a deformable portion 6 forceable through an aperture 18 in a bulkhead &c. 15 and comprising a shoulder 13 facing the flange to grip the bulkhead, and axial slits (15a), Fig. 1 (not shown), extending from the free end to, or to near, the flange. The conduit may pass through the fitting which is without the flange 11 shown. The fitting may have a metal sleeve 17 which is deformed to grip the conduit, or, if the conduit is of plastics the fitting may be deformed by heat and pressure to either fuse with the conduit or to embed a wire helix or carborundum powder into the conduit and fitting. The fitting 3 may be of metal or of a polyamide, polyurethane, polyacetal or polycarbonate plastics. The conduit C may be of a wire or wires coiled with a fine or coarse means with or without a plastics sheath, or be of plastics, e.g. a tube 1 of an acetal or amide resin encircled by a tube 2 of high density polythene. The collar 4 may be of resilient form (e.g. dished) or may have an adjacent resilient washer.
