1277085 Material spreader C VAN DER LELY NV 13 May 1969 [16 May 1968] 24445/69 Heading A1D A spreading implement has two flow control plates 29, 30 Fig. 1 situated beneath a hopper 8, material leaving the hopper, passing through holes (33), (40) (Fig. 4, not shown) in the plates, and onto a rotating spreader member 17. A control arm 64 is pivotably mounted on a shaft 50, itself mounted on the frame 2 supporting the hopper, the turning of the control arm 64 about the axis of the shaft 50 changing the radial positions of the setting arms 51, 53 and thus via links 46, 48 connected to plates 29, 30 respectively the position of one plate with respect to another. The overlap of the holes is thus adjustable, and control of the discharge rate of the material from the hopper, achieved. Turning control arm 64 Fig. 5 about its own longitudinal axis alters the position of block 68, moving links 71, 72 which are connected to setting arms 53, 51 respectively, thus rotating both plates to the same extent in the same direction. This adjusts the angular position of the discharge hole (comprising the overlapping holes (33), (40)) relative to the spreader member axis (26, Fig. 3 not shown), which determines the area of land upon which the material is spread, without changing the relative positions of the plates, i.e. the discharge rate.
