683,299. Fertilizer distributers. GENTLE, L. April 17, 1951 [Feb. 6, 1950], No. 3018/50. Class 6(i) An agricultural spreading or distributing machine comprises a rotatable platform 30' provided with blades 31 which extend-. outwardly, mounted .below a cylindrical pot 38 provided with a discharge opening and fitted with a shutter 19 provided with a trapezoidal opening and which is adjustable to vary the effective discharge opening of the pot. Four blades 31 are provided and two of the blades are pivoted to the platform 30 so as to be angularly adjustable. The outlet of a hopper 39 is fitted over the pot 38 and material is fed from the hopper to the platform 30 where it is distributed by the blades 31. The platform 30 is driven by belt gearing from a tractor power shaft through a shaft 57. The machine includes a support 55 provided with pins 56 for attachment to hydraulic lifting mechanism on a tractor. The material is agitated by a plate secured to the platform 30 and provided with projections 50. At the centre of the plate there is secured a shaft 51 formed with a crank portion 52 which supports a hub 53 provided with agitator arms 54. The machine may be modified by mounting on road wheels, the platform being rotated by belt gearing from the road wheels. In a further embodiment eight blades are mounted on a rotatable platform. The machine is provided with land wheels and a towbar and the platform is driven through belt gearing from the land wheels.
