1296191 Combine harvester MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR AG 7 Jan 1970 [10 Jan 1969] 863/70 Heading A1F A combine harvester with axial flow sieving of the threshed crop comprises a transverse threshing drum 1, and a transverse conveying drum 2 feeding threshed crop to a frusto conical stationary sieve drum 3 having an oval flared opening 4 where the width exceeds the height and containing a cantilever mounted coaxial-body screw conveyor 6, the axis of the sieve 3 and conveyor 6 sloping slightly rearwardly and upwardly. Conveyor 6 is rotatably driven via gearing in mounting 13 located in a steam chamber 7. The front and rear portions of the helical flight 9 lie parallel with the drum axis and a bar 10 is fined to the body of conveyor 6 near the rear approxamately 180‹ from the rear flight portion, and plates 11 extend longitudinally from the end of conveyor 8 or may be extensions of flight 9 and bar 10, into the straw chamber 7. The length of both the rear axial portion of the flight and the bar 10 is about one quarter of the total conveyor length. The outer edge portions of the flight 9 and bar 10 are made of rubbery material. In a further embodiment the steam chamber is circular, having a tangential outlet, and the rear end of the conveyor lies in the chamber and has substantially radial curved tines for straw expulsion. In another embodiment the front end of conveyor 25 is supported by an arm 26 carrying a member 27 which cooperates with knives 29 on the conveyor 2' which drop the straw and prevent fouling of arm 26.
