Abstract

1276268 Supporting cables SIEMENS AG 20 April 1970 [18 April 1969] 18832/70 Heading H2C A cross-arm for supporting overhead conductors 5 from a tower comprises a steel base frame 1 and an upper portion 2 comprising tensioned insulators 6 supported by compressed insulators 3. The conductors 5 are secured to the upper portion 2 by clamps 4 and the insulators 6 are formed of casting resin reinforced with glass fibres which may be impregnated with aromatic or cycloaliphatic casting resins. The insulators 3 are formed of casting resin which is resistant to the atmosphere and provided with mineral filling, e.g. cycloaliphatic epoxy resin filled with silica. The insulators 6 may be formed with a central core of glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin (11, Figs 3 and 4, not shown) surrounded by resin (12) and provided with an end fitting (14).
