Abstract
1275832 Evaporators; film type METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 9 June 1970 [2 July 1969] 27945/70 Heading B1B In an evaporator of the type wherein the liquid flows as a thin layer along the internal wall of an externally-heated straight tube, the wall of the tube is formed with continuous indentations of diminishing depth running axially along the tube whereby the cross-section of the tube increases in the direction of flow but the periphery of the tube remains constant. Figs. 4, 6, and 7 illustrate three successive cross-sections along a tube having three indentations. The evaporator may comprise a plurality of tubes and the internal cross-section of each tube preferably increases along the length of the tube in such a manner that, in operation, the velocity of the vapour evolved in the tube is constant along the entire length of the tube. Figs. 1 and 9 (not shown) relate to falling-film and climbing-film evaporators respectively.
