Abstract

An arrangement in a suction dredging installation for minimising the possibility of freezing of the static, pressure-transmitting fluid in the one or more pipes 11 that are each connected at one end to a pressure measuring device 10 and at the other end open into the suction pipe 1 of the suction dredging installation, the arrangement involving each pipe 11 for at least part of its length being passed through a purgative water-supplying pipe 8a, 8b opening into the suction pipe 1 at the same point as the pipe 11. Preferably the pipe ends inside the conduit 8a, 8b, which is connected to a back pressure valve 5. Purgative water from a natural warm supply or from a heated supply is fed by a pump 3 into the pipe(s) 8a, 8b.
