Abstract
1,273,741. Electro-forming of fluidic devices. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Aug. 5, 1969 [Aug. 9, 1968], No. 38252/68. Heading C7B. In manufacturing a metallic fluidic device a first part including open channels is made by electro-forming on to a suitably contoured mould coated with electrically conductive material; the part is removed from the mould and filled with wax or other filler material; the surface of the filler material is coated with electrically conductive material and a layer of metal is electroplated over the coated filler material and at least the adjacent surfaces of the first electro-formed part; and the filler material is removed from the device. The device may be formed of nickel; the part deposited in the first operation being etched prior to the second operation. Electrolyte may be pumped to cavity regions of the structure being plated through sacrificial nickel anodes.
